and the world speaks

AIBA builds technology that describes the world live to blind and low-vision people — streets, places and crossings, dangers first — and that answers when you talk to it, the way you would talk to a person. Made in Portugal, built side by side with the people who use it.

HEAR the world the way we TELL it

Choose a situation and hear what AIBA says — real phrases from the app’s modes. In the app, the voice rides along with you and answers whatever you ask.

Pick a scenario above — and turn the sound on.

Sample voice generated by your browser. In the app, the voice, the intelligence and the world are real — live, wherever you are.

Our system

incepTION: the origin of a SPOken world

Inception is our founding idea: rebuilding the world as sound. Not maps to look at — a world that introduces itself. Every street, every place, every crossing says its own name at the moment it matters. No pre-mapping: wherever you are, the world builds itself live around you. A new beginning — the world speaking with those who cannot see it.

  • Five layers, always in order: safety first, then the way, the practical, orientation and culture — aligned with the UN ITU-T F.921 standard.
  • An intelligence that decides what matters: the nearest leads, hazards interrupt, silence is respected.
  • And where the AIBA network is installed, the world speaks to the metre: inside buildings, with the local knowledge of those who mapped it.

Who builds this world

AIBA Marcador maps it

A professional app that captures the world: GPS anchors with quality capture, BLE beacons, NFC tags — and AI photo analysis that suggests bilingual names and descriptions on the spot.

Real example: Lourinhã — a whole town mapped with 252 anchors and 4 step-by-step guided routes.

The backoffice orchestrates

The brain of the network: spaces, rules with priorities and prerequisites, sequential routes, switchable data sources, live editing. A change in the backoffice reaches every user in seconds — no app update needed.

Inside: OSM/HERE sources switchable live · official INFARMED base with 20,888 medicines · usage analytics per space.

The apps speak it

xee and AIBA Navi turn all of it into voice: the live world with salience — what matters, when it matters, dangers first. And you talk back: ask, and it answers and guides.

«You have arrived at Forum Algarve. The main entrance is right ahead.»
Safety

SAfety speaks FIRST

Everything else can wait half a second. A danger cannot. In AIBA, hazards interrupt any narration — roadworks, crossings, obstacles — following the UN ITU-T F.921 standard for audio navigation.

🛰︎ GPS + Galileo 🌐 live web · weather · transport 📡 beacons · to the metre 🛴 scooter on the pavement · 5 m 🗣︎ your agent, by voice “Careful: works ahead, keep left.”

Scooters on the pavement

Shared e-scooters left in your path are one of a blind pedestrian’s worst enemies. AIBA detects their Bluetooth signal and warns you before you trip over one — a protection you will not find anywhere else.

Dangers interrupt. Always.

Roadworks, crossings, obstacles measured by LiDAR: the safety layer cuts through everything else, in order — safety, way, practical, orientation, culture.

SOS in one touch

112 pre-dialled and live route sharing with the people you trust — your family follows your walk in real time.

Honest, and it listens

Report a hazard with your voice and the whole AIBA community gets warned. And when the GPS is weak, the app says so — it never pretends to know.

why this MATters now

285M

People with visual impairment

The World Health Organisation estimates 285 million people live with visual impairment, 39 million of whom are totally blind. Most still lack access to the technology that could transform their daily lives.

2050

An ageing population

By 2050 the number of elderly people worldwide will double. Intelligent assistive technology creates new ways to participate, explore and maintain autonomy — a global-scale response to a growing challenge.

+

New professional opportunities

AI opens possibilities. Tools like AIBA allow people with visual impairment to access professional roles previously out of reach, creating more productive and talent-rich economies.

The world as it should be

Accessibility is not an extra — it is a right. When technology is designed for everyone, everyone benefits. Every improvement for a blind person enriches the experience of all users.

For decades, accessibility challenges were met with expensive, cumbersome and difficult-to-use solutions. The new generation of multimodal AI models makes it possible, for the first time, to build products that are simultaneously powerful, accessible and enjoyable to use.

AIBA works at this intersection — between cutting-edge AI research and the real needs of the people who benefit most from those capabilities.

Artificial Intelligence

AI that OPENS doors to the WORld

AIBA products are powered by artificial intelligence models with hundreds of billions of parameters — the same scale of capability that today defines the world state of the art in language, vision and reasoning.

This scale is not an end in itself: it is what allows xee and AIBA Navi to describe an unfamiliar street live, read a menu in real time, identify what is ahead or give precise instructions in a hospital corridor — all by voice, all in seconds, always safety first.

Processing is carried out securely and responsibly, with privacy by design. User data is not stored or used for model training.

World Exploration

Describes environments, reads signage and identifies landmarks in real time.

Voice Assistant

Talk as you would to a person — ask questions, ask for directions, ask for somewhere to eat — and the AI understands, answers and can guide you there.

Camera Vision

Advanced image analysis: text, money, medicines, objects, people and documents.

Automatic Tagging

Generation and reading of NFC tags with integrated intelligent context.

Deep Reasoning
